We had another fun wine dinner at Barbrix. The dinner there was so good as always!
Both wines I brought turned out to be kinda "funky". 2001 Domaine Vincent et Francois Jouard, Chassagne-Montrachet, Les Chaumees 1er Cru, "Clos de la Truffiere" was more advanced than I expected it to be. The color was dark golden and the aroma was almost like Sherry. But, the fruit was holding up on the palate and it had the wonderful minerality.
1989 E. Guigal, Hermitage had the trace of brett on the nose. It smelled so much "animal", but the palate was not bad and I could taste the mellow sweet fruit character. This is a very good vintage for Hermitage and it could have been a fantastic wine...
