Donabe rice is great with BBQ dishes. It's also perfect for outdoor dining, because you can serve the steaming hot rice right out of the donabe at your patio table. Luckily, many of my friends now own the double-lid donabe rice cooker, "Kamado-san", so when I'm invited to their BBQ, we can all enjoy the juicy grilled meat with the shiny donabe rice together, too!
The other night, one of our friends hosted a casual BBQ dinner at his house. He grilled some bone-in ribeye and a whole filet of Tasmanian ocean trout.
Both the meat and fish were really tasty, and great with the "serious" donabe rice. My stomach was very happy.
