Back in Japan (Kyoto - November 2010)...Kamo Tofu and Donabe Rice in Kyoto

After spending a night in Osaka, I met up with 2 girlfriends in Kyoto. I took a train from Osaka Sta. to Kyoto Sta....it was less than 30 min. ride. They traveled from Tokyo to spend two nights with me here in the beautiful historic city. We've been friends for over 20 years!

As soon as we left our stuff at the hotel, we took a bus to our lunch destination near Kodaiji Temple. The weather in Kyoto was so nice and warm.

We had a reservation at Kodaiji Saryo for a traditional Kyoto cuisine.

Beautifully presented appetizers were all very seasonal and delicious.

Their famous "Kamo Tofu" (duck and tofu hot pot). So delicate and nice. Duck was perfectly tender.

Seasonal donabe rice was served right at the table. It was fall mushrooms including matsutake mushrooms!
