Last Saturday, I had an opportunity to host a donabe cooking class at Tortoise General Store in Venice Beach. I love TGS and its super-cool people, so I was so happy to be invited to do a event there.
The theme was Kamado-san Rice Dishes & "Okazu" (Japanese side) Dishes.
The venue was at the beautiful back studio of their store. That's me prepping before the guest arrived.
I had a great time with the wonderful guests. After all the dishes were ready, we sat down at the outdoor patio table and tasted these dishes together in the beautiful sunny weather.
Here are the dishes we made in the class (pictures below are from rehearsal cooking).
Green beans and roasted walnuts "goma-ae" (mixed in sesame sauce)
Abura-age, kabocha, and komatsuna "nibitashi" light stew
Salmon and hijiki rice
Mushroom rice
