I've been too busy these past days to update my blog with various things. Last weekend, I had an opportunity to participate in First Annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Event as a guest sommelier. (You can find me in their website linked here :-)
I started early on Friday. Since the event venue was at LA Live/ Nokia Plaza in Downtown, I stayed in Little Tokyo and decided to Metro Line there. It was my first time to take a public transportation in LA since I moved here 10 years ago! The sky was so beautiful in Downtowon in the morning. I had a nice walk. There were many tents of the protesters in front of the City Hall...they were still sleeping, I guess.
So, I took Metro Red Line from Civic Center Station, and went down just 2 stops to 7th/ Figueroa Station. LA Live/ Nokia Plaza was just 7-8 minutes walk from there.
I helped setting up a couple of events on Friday, including Chef Daniel Boulud and Chef Michael Chiarello's sessions. Chef Chiarello's uni (sea urchin) risotto was quite rich!
I got off in the evening and headed back to Little Tokyo to meet a friend at Aburiya Toranoko for dinner. We had wonderful sushi as always, and opened 2 bottles of sake!
