(Day 11)
Our very last appointment of this entire trip was with Poderi Marcarini in La Morra.

Carla and Elena hosted our visit. We took a tour of their winery first. Marcarini has the oldest cellar in La Morra (17C).

I found out that this year’s Barolo Brunate was harvested on my birthday! It’s going to be a very special vintage, I’m sure.

We tasted the following wines:
2010 Roero Arneis
2010 Dolcetto d’Alba, “Fontanazza”
2010 Dolcetto d’Alba, “Boschi di Berri”
2010 Barbera d’Alba, “Ciabot Camerano”
2008 Barolo, “Brunate”
It was a nice tasting to mark our finale of the wine tour.

After we left Marcarini, we stopped by at a cute wine bar/ cafĂ© called, Vineria S. Giorgia (Vinarte), in La Morra for a little break. I found their local cake called, Torta di Nocciole. It’s a very rustic style traditional cake in the region with hazelnuts. It was so good that I bought a whole cake to take with me.
